For whatever else, MomTok knows how to live for the plot. That could be through a girls’ trip that never stops being chaotic, by throwing a holiday party while still in full glam, or just by handling difficult discussions on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.” But in the gym, it’s all about routine.
Chatting for their latest collaboration with Cupshe, MomTok creators Demi Engemann, Layla Taylor, and Jennifer Affleck say it’s easier to maintain that level of dedication when you actually like your workout. “I’ve been doing a lot of Pilates recently,” Engemann tells Popsugar.
“I attempted a barre class for the first time, and I am now obsessed.” Taylor has a parallel mentality around fitness, focusing on intuitive movement. “I make an effort on a day-to-day basis to listen to my body and move,” she says. “I am obsessed with Pilates — anything that is low intensity.”
The “Dancing With the Stars” competition, Affleck says, has “totally consumed” her fitness regimen. But she’s not really mad about it, either. “It’s such a great workout, but it doesn’t even feel like one because I’m just having so much fun,” she says. I enjoy everything that keeps me moving and gets my blood flowing! I’ve never been that into lifting weights. I’d rather dance it out.”
Engemann concurs that weightlifting is not the exercise of her choice. “I used to lift really heavy, but I’m kind of pausing now,” she says. “I’m all about movement that makes me feel in my feminine energy. So, yoga, stretching, breathwork, Pilates, barre walks, etc, are all feeling really good to me right now.”
That said, feeling great in your body doesn’t all come down to what you do at the gym. Looking good has a selling point for the MomTok crew, it turns out. Need proof? Taylor, Affleck, and Engemann would have you look at their most recent foray into fashion, Cupshe’s For the Plot Party Collection.
Together, they made showstopping pieces designed just for holiday parties, late nights, and all other main-character-energy moments. “I wanted to feel bright and feminine and fun, but still easy and elevated,” Affleck says of the aesthetic to Popsugar. And for Taylor, there was a sense of perfect timing to the collection with its arrival just in time for the holidays. “There’s nothing better than going to events feeling your best,” she said.
And if you think a cool ‘fit or sweaty workout isn’t enough to give you that little pep… there’s always dirty soda. “I begin my day with electrolytes, and then post-workout I treat myself to a large sparkling water mixed with sugar-free mango, coconut cream, frozen mango, and fresh lime from Swig,” says Engemann.
The bottom line? Discover what makes you look and feel your best, both in fitness and in style. Oh, and if a dirty soda is what it takes to get you off the couch — let us just say that MomTok 100 percent endorses that.
