After the US and China economic conflict, Huawei continuously updated its system to beat Android. Therefore, in a recent conference, the Executive Director, Mr. Richard Yu, announced the launch of HarmonyOS 6, which could be the major update from the company so far regarding the latest operating system upgrade.
The Huawei Company presented HarmonyOS 6 with several features like enhancements in design, performance, and the most appealing and powerful AI-driven feature.
Intelligent Agent Framework is one of the major mentions of HarmonyOS 6. This new capability brings a human- and natural-like conversation style to the system. XiaoYi, Huawei’s virtual assistant, may have a lot to do with it. It is meant to learn about your habits more intuitively, rather than making you rely on a set list of voice commands.
Now, with AI assistance, XiaoYi can actually read your entire phone screen to figure out what you’re doing. It might recommend something useful and be able to take action. It works sort of like Google’s Circle to Search feature. Whether you are browsing the web, working, or playing a game, XiaoYi can be there for you without the need for specific instruction.
At the event, Huawei demoed how you can use HarmonyOS 6 in the real world. For example, Users can chat with ChatExcel, an app that allows them to work with Excel files in natural language. You can even request XiaoYi to take you through how to create new apps for HarmonyOS 6.
These clever utilities want to make things easier, whether you’re using them as a student, office worker, or coder.
Touch and Share is another cool addition to the mix. That means by physically tapping your phone to a compatible PC screen, you’ll be able to easily share files or even join a multiplayer game. Huawei has yet to release a list of all supported devices, but this feature also appears to be aimed at further entrenching users in the company’s ecosystem.
Touch and Share is expected to boost collaboration and quick file transfers, making life easier for people who work across multiple Huawei devices.
Developer Beta Now Available
Huawei has also launched the HarmonyOS 6 Developer Beta Program. Developers interested in analyzing the new features can sign up now. Registration is open until 30th June 2025. However, there’s a verification process through Huawei’s Developer Alliance, so participants need to finish that first.

The developer beta is available on the following Huawei devices:
- Huawei Mate 70 and Mate 70 Pro
- Huawei Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro
