Social Media platform X (formerly Twitter) services have been restored in Pakistan after one year. The X was shut down last year in February 2024. The ban on the social media platform X was lifted for narrative in a Pak-Indian War situation.
It should be remembered that the ban on X in Pakistan was imposed by the military establishment to finish the popularity of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the great leader Imran Khan, who is in jail due to fake and baseless cases.
According to the sources, at a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications, chaired by Senator Palwasha Khan, they decided yesterday to lift the ban on X due to the critical situation of the Pak-India war. During the meeting, committee members strongly condemned the Indian attacks and also paid tribute to our brave Pakistan Army.
In a so-called press release, Senator of form 47 Palwasha Khan said that the Indian attack in the night darkness shows fear of the Indian army, and they are habitual in such kinds of cowardly attacks on civilian’ areas, which caused several martyrdoms, but the nation is ready to retaliate.
Further, Palwasha said that, in such a critical situation Government decided to lift the ban on the social media platform X. She also said that we have already informed Chairman PTA Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, HI (M), regarding this decision. Now X has been running without a VPN in Pakistan since last night.
Last year, in February 2024, the form 47 government imposed a ban on the social networking site X, citing fake elections, political tension in the country, misinformation, and sensitive content regarding fake elections on social media. Further, the government’s position is that this measure was necessary to prevent the spread of false security and false information.
