ISLAMABAD: The issue of slow internet has once again come under discussion during the Question Hour in the National Assembly.
The issue of slow internet has once again come under discussion in the National Assembly session today when Pakistan Peoples Party Member of National Assembly Agha Rafiullah expressed serious concerns over the worsening situation of slow internet.
Agha Rafiullah said that businesses are being affected due to slow internet speed, which is becoming a major public problem.
To this, IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that the speed of the internet has already increased; however, Agha Rafiullah replied that if the speed of the internet has really increased, then what will happen to the slowness?
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq expressed regret over the state of the internet and said that the situation of the internet is getting worse day by day. He stressed that this question will continue to be raised in the House until a satisfactory answer to this issue is given.
IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that the number of internet users has increased by 25 percent, but the IT sector has not received as much investment as needed.
She added that no other company is being waited for to grant a license to Starlink, and there is also an application from a Chinese satellite company under the government’s Open Sky Policy.
The IT Minister said that Starlink is expected to reach homes by November or December, and this facility can be provided at any time.
