A parliamentary panel has directed the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to regularize its daily wage employees, totaling over 10,000 individuals. The Chairman of the Special Committee on Affected Employees, Qadir Khan Mandokhail, has instructed the NBP to take action through the Finance Ministry to provide job security to these workers.
It has also been discussed in the parliamentary panel that approximately 1,100 of these employees are highly educated. In addition, the National Assembly Finance committee has also suggested that the Finance division should regularize the daily wage employees of NBP.
It has been noted that over the past four to five years, NBP has employed more than 5,000 contractual workers.
However, despite the parliamentary panel’s instructions, an official from the Ministry of Finance has informed ProPakistani that court decisions have been made against regularization, especially in NBP.
It is worth citing that the government has established a special committee to address the issue, similar to the committee established under the supervision of Syed Khursheed Shah in 2012.
Recently, Qadir Mandokhel, the Chairman of the Special Committee on Affected Employees, has expressed his determination to introduce a bill in parliament to legislate on the committee’s unprecedented decisions for federal government employees who have been affected.
