Sydney Sweeney is back with a bang! Sweeney turns heads as she arrives at the 2025 GQ Men of the Year party at storied Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. The 28-year-old actress wowed wearing a sexy low-cut black Versace gown, making her first major public appearance since another film she starred in flopped at the box office last year – Christy.
The Euphoria actress was totally committed to the theme of the evening’s “’90s Hollywood Red Carpet” dress code, wearing a goth-chic satin gown that showed off her figure and had an up-to-there neckline.
Sydney Sweeney served an edgy look and added a black choker, smoky eye shadow that brought out her icy blue eyes. Her long platinum locks were styled into airy, textured waves and contribute to her gothic-glam look.
Sydeny Sweeney is one of seven celebrities gracing the cover of GQ’s 2025 Men of the Year issue, in celebration of the magazine’s 30th anniversary. She was named Actress of the Year and was co-hosting the star-studded evening with Stephen Colbert, Seth Rogen, SZA, Oscar Isaac, Clipse, and Hailey Bieber.
Her return to the limelight comes in the wake of Christy. The biographical sports drama, in which Sweeney plays Hall of Fame boxer Christy Martin, tanked at the box office, with a take of only $1.3 million over more than 2,000 theaters in its opening weekend as one of the top 12 worst-performing wide releases ever.
The release of the film came after an outcry over Sweeney’s American Eagle jeans campaign, which was slammed by some for what they described as a racially insensitive pun.
However, Sydney Sweeney defended the project and her work on it. In an Instagram post earlier this month, she wrote: “I am so deeply proud of this movie… Proud to be able to carry the mantle of someone as strong and resilient as Christy Martin. It has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”
The actress has also come under fire for her political affiliation after it was revealed earlier this year that she is a registered Republican, a fact that sparked debate in what many saw as “woke Hollywood.”
Sydney Sweeney was not the only star turning heads at the GQ event. Hailey Bieber, 28, also turned heads wearing a sheer black Gucci gown teamed with a matching crystal-encrusted thong to get temperatures rising on the red carpet.
