Even as the international market has shown a marginal rise in prices of all petroleum products, barring petrol, the rates are likely to increase from Saturday by up to Rs 9.50 a litre, and they would remain effective till November 30. But on the other hand government has decided to reduce petrol price in pakistan from 15th November to 30th November 2025.

Announcement in Dawn newspaper reveals that during the last years, the (HSD) ex-depot price would have increased by Rs 9.50 or 3.4% per liter at existing tax levels. In comparison, petrol prices are expected to drop by Rs 2 per litre or 0.7%.

The Petrol Price in Pakistan and diesel have already increased by about Rs 12.50 and Rs 23 per litre, respectively, since June 1.

Similarly, ex-depot prices of kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO) would go up by Rs 8.80 per litre (4.8pc) and 7.15 per litre (4.4pc), respectively. At present kerosene is priced at Rs 185 per litre and LDO at Rs 164 a litre.

The ex-depot price of petrol has now been reduced from Rs 265.45 per litre to Rs 263.50. When it comes to petrol, being primarily consumed in private transportation like cars, small vehicles, rickshaws and motorcycles, it directly affects the budgets of the middle and lower-middle-class population.

The ex-depot price of High-Speed Diesel at Rs 278.44 per litre could go up to Rs 288 per litre by November 15. This fuel is a necessity for most transportation modes and agricultural machinery , such as automobiles, trucks, buses, tractors, tubewells, and threshers. In the same way, if there is an increase in HSD price, it leads to inflation because, due to a hike in HSD prices, the cost of transportation and food items, including vegetables, increases.

While transporters had hiked the fares taking into account that petrol price shot up by Rs 27 per litre from May till August, and not revised it downward when there was a decrease of Rs 13 per litre.
